How to Make Milk Bread For Delicious French Toast

Ingredients for Milk Bread  – 2 ½ cups (315g) bread flour2 tbsp (25g) sugar1 tsp salt2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) instant yeast½ cup (120ml) warm milk (110°F/43°C) – ¼ cup (60ml) heavy cream1 large egg2 tbsp (30g) unsalted butter, softened

Prepare the Yeast – Mix ½ cup warm milk, 2 tbsp sugar, and 2¼ tsp yeast; let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

Make the Dough – In a bowl, mix 2½ cups bread flour, 1 tsp salt, yeast mixture, ¼ cup heavy cream, 1 egg, and 2 tbsp softened butter. Knead until smooth.

First Rise – Cover the dough and let it rise for 60-90 minutes until doubled in size.

Shape & Second Rise – Punch down, divide into 3 portions, place in a greased loaf pan, and let rise for 45 minutes.

Bake – Brush with milk or egg wash and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Slice & Soak for French Toast – Cut thick slices, dip in a mixture of eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon for 15-20 seconds per side.

Cook & Serve – Fry in butter over medium heat until golden brown. Serve with maple syrup, fruit, or powdered sugar!
